Conceptual Rendering     Eisterhold Associates, Inc. The entrance to “Battlegrounds” recreates the authentic Greensboro railway station's “Colored Only” access to this architecturally impressive, yet segregated facility. This installation propels the visitor into a maze that will give an emotional and palpable experience leading to a greater understanding and respect for the circumstances that forced an end to a regrettable era of suppression. The installation also celebrates the nation's first African-American labor union–the Pullman Car Porters.
