The International Civil Rights Center museum experience will culminate in a memorial that will immerse the visitor in the contrasting emotions of contemplation and celebration. This glass enclosure will honor one hundred men, women, and children who paid the ultimate sacrifice in America’s battle for freedom and equality for all of her citizens, and on other soils around the globe. At the center of this Memorial, illuminating the names of both famous and lesser-known martyrs, will be a tribute in crystal, titled “Flight to Freedom”.  As curved walls surround the visitor, there is at once the solemn reality of lives lost, and the joy of freedom gained.
